Some Quick Advice. I am really new at this and was looking at the following:Sony DAV-C700
Pioneer HTD-510DV
Pioneer HTZ-77DV
Any Idea on which is the better choice.

...I'd go with the Sony.I checked it out (in the Sony store on a whim a few days ago- know thy enemy, right?hehehe...), and was really surprised at the sound quality.
As per usual, the speakers are the real limiting factor (and on ALL HTIB systems I've seen, IMHO), but you can always start the upgrade process at that end eventually.

From what I have heard of these in MegaBigBox stores is not very good. Is your budget limited? You might look at an Onkyo which seems a little better built.
