Hello all, once again i need anwsers that only you fine folks can help me with, my first question is in regards to the pioneer elite dv-09 player. i know there were 2 versions of this player as it related to dts, one version had a sticker and the other was, well, i don't know what it was but..... what i need to know is, other then the dts factor were there 2 versions of the 09 available? i read a post on the web where the poster made it sound like he had a 09 that provided better picture quality then the earlier versions due to various build factors.Second question, what is the best non s-vhs deck on the market today?
Third question, do most s-vhs deck have compisite hook ups? i want to buy the sony slr-1000, i was wondering if i can put a normal vhs tape in there and record of my dss which is hooked up via s-video? the vcr would be hooked up via compisite cable at this time as i don't have an extra s-video imput at this time. i know i won't be receiving the full benifits, but will it record?
fourth question- new elite dvd players? when?
Thanks for reading, i would be very thanful for some quick replies as i am ready to buy now and want to spend the coin before i piss it away, i got real lucky in the nfl the last 2 weeks and want to spend the winnings before i give it back to my bookmaker, thanks for reading!
The answer to your third question about the SLV-R1000 is yes, it will record with the hook-up you describe.
...don't worry yourself about picture quality. The DV-09 provides a picture that's about as good as you're going to get from DVD. Buy the DV-09 from Canada for less than $1400.I would assume that there will soon be Elite DVD-audio players, but I'm not aware of timing.
Rich, where on earth in canada would i find it for 1400> most stoes are asking for 2300?
After you enter, click on DVD players graphic in upper right hand corner, then click on Pioneer DV-09. Current price is listed at 1387.50 (recent US dollar drop may have impacted this somewhat), but you'll have to pay Fedex shipping to the states (which cost me $45 if I recall correctly). If you have any trouble with the site, just call them. I received my unit within a week, only one or two days after the original time estimate.
...make sure you have the aspect ratio setting correct (the settings are a little confusing, so you might have to use trial and error to get it right). If not, you'll experience some bizarre picture distortions (trailing images, etc.) which might lead you to believe that your unit is defective...it's not.
