The sweet, old face of TCM will be missed. I spend most of my tv watching time on that channel, and his soothing personality was a tonic for this old film buff. He's been off air for a long time, so his passing comes as no surprise. I love TCM and R.O., and it will be so sad without him.

News of his passing is not unexpected, yet....he was such a fixture at TCM I found it difficult to accept anyone else for their movie lead-ins and live programming. That said, and after some lengthy period of adjustment, I now find Ben Mankiewicz entirely acceptible as Osborne's successor. Who else could it have been?!

Time marches on eternally, even though we humans do not.

On a serious tip, whom is in-line to replace RO? Those shoes will not be easy to fulfill.

Ben Mankiewicz has been the "go to guy" while Osborne made his decline into ill health. He's well suited to replace the irreplaceable one. Though a little edgier in the humor department, he's a solid host. TCM is such a jewel, that it would be hard to wreck. Their choices for hosts have always been pretty good.

Mr Osborne lived in Manhattan at the corner of 57th street and 7th avenue, in a residential apartment building called the Osborne. He bought in there back in the early 1980's, when you could still get a spot in the building for a reasonable sub-fortune. I spent a little time there, cause I had a rich aunt who lived there, back in the 1960-1970 era. Great place to live.
