Ceiling placement would be a last resort for me. Works
in a dental office though.

IMO Atmos is totally crazy, good 5.0 is all I need for music & HT.

I'd take a real good 2.0/2.1 system over any ceiling setup.....

Man, it would be so much easier if you had the TV on a straight wall, particularly because a lo of TVs do not have an optimal picture when viewed from an angle. Putting the TV behind where the seating is would be the best.

But if you're stuck, I'd only do a 5.1 system. You really don't get much from a 7.1 It's barely noticeable. For the surrounds, I'd put the right speaker closer to the seating more in line with the fronts and the left symmetrically placed near the seating on the other side. Surrounds should be slightly in front of the seating area or barely behind. Forget the rear surrounds.

Ceilings are a last resort, but I put a couple of Energy ceiling speakers for the surrounds in the family room and it works very well. Since there was no wall on one side, it was the only option.

Okay. I could see doing ceiling in a vintage-like Dynaquad
setup (ambience recovery rear 2 ch).

I seldom post or respond here...but I am a retired builder...and I think the first thing to think about is light reflections off your TV screen. I think you have a good spot for it, but putting your TV on a 45 degree angle would reflect light from the doors on the left if they have windows. The other comment is about your ceiling speakers...your system will change over time. I guarantee it. Are you sure you want to lock yourself in to a certain location? You do have a perfect chance to run lots of speaker wire in the walls now...use that chance

I have 7.1 set up in an almost identical room size (but dedicated) as the OP. For what it's worth, if I had the spare time, I'd probably rip down 2 of the speakers; completely pointless IMO.
Also agree with your suggested location options in order.
