"Ju Dou" is my favorite film by director Zhang Yimou ("Raise The Red Lantern", "Red Sorghum", "To Live", "Shanghai Triad"). Those amazing expanses of red linen reminded me of the artist Cristo. And Gong Li is so beautiful. Another Chinese film I'd recommend is "Farewell My Concubine".
