How did you like The Killer? I found it to be way too overrated.Watching something like the JuDou one can not but help wondering about how different the two cultures are: your typical Western and the Oriental. It is customary to say "minimalist" when describing the latter, but I thnk that is an ovesimplification. For anyone accustomed to Hermitage, Prado and Drezden Gallery, visiting the Tokyo National Museum requires a complete rethinking. I am still unsure as far as to what to make of it. For instance, the Chinese import porcelain rivals the best of Sevre's, but for themselves they kept producing the simplest possible forms. Can one be so good while pretending? On the other hand, the post-WWII Japanese took to collecting the Western art like fish to water. A long-supressed desires? Go figure. Few things ever conform to simple explanations.
