Re: Eisenstein/Kovalov film -- "Mexican Fantasy"

My understanding is that Que Viva Mexico! was the version released immediately after the initial filming and did not meet with Eisenstein's approval as this is when he found out that he did not have control of the final release of his work.

Mexican Fantasy, on the other hand claims to be Eisenstein's "lost masterpiece" although compiled long after his death.

I guess my question was more on the lines of whether anyone knew enough about Kovolov so as to offer an opinion as to whether he had the skills and integrity to actually come close to Eisenstein's plan. I know nothing of Kovolov's work.
