MASH on DVD...the Second Season box set

Just picked up this box set...and it hasn't been off the Dvd player for the past 2 days. Pushing aside my Herzog/Kinski box for another day, and other tempting morsels..."Z", "Britannia Hospital", "My Favorite Year", and Savage Steve Holland's "Better Off Dead"...I just can't get enough of this set !!!
In lieu of commercial and cable Tv offerings, it's so refreshing to be entertained with intelligent, well written, funny screen entertainment! I've been also reading Larry Gelbart's excellently written autobiography, "Laughing Matters", so the perspective of getting the lowdown on the writing of the series, was extra special!
Aside with the great picture and sound quality, what's great about the DVD offerings here, is that we get the full length Tv shows, with footage that was excised for Tv syndication. The original Tv show. What a concept!
Gelbart, definitely made the show special, and set the tone of quality, that made the show so popular! I've always wondered, how he developed this show
Next, I can't wait for the Dick Van Dyke Show DVD's...Tv used to be THAT good! Aside from the movie cable channels, Thank GOD, for TvLand !!!!!
