Just saw a TV news item on this insidious DVD censoring software that allows you to sanitise DVDs when played back through your PC for "safe" family viewing.
Imagine the Omaha beach landing without the gore.
The Matrix with bullet holes being replaced by cartoon captions.
Kate Winslet suddenly wearing a corset while posing for the drawing in Titanic.
The swords in The Princess Bride replaced with light sabers ???

As expected the Director's Guild is strongly against this tampering.
If anything this sort of coverup sends exactly the wrong sort of message to impressionable kids.
With luck this silliness wil die a death like DIVX.
