If you like the work of Ishiro Honda- see The Mysterians (sometimes called Earth Defence Forces) if you get a chance-one of the best Toho productions- the giant robot is a crack-up.
Also, Destroy All Monsters for an all out guy-in-a-rubber-suit fest. Starring Angilas, Varan, Speiga, Manda, Gorosaurus,Baragon,Minya,Rodan,Mothra,King Ghidorah and Godzilla. Some scenes from this film appear in other Toho movies.
Honda maintained a long friendship with Kurasawa, and assisted on Ran and Kagemusha.
Some trivia- Godzilla was named after a surly worker at Toho studios called Gojira.
