short and impressionistic review of bloodwork

i wouldn't review a film unless it had something going for it. i have nothing to say about 'xxx' and 'minority report' as well as a few other films.

this film could have been an excellent film. for a while i was thinking i had number 5 of the best dvds of the year 2002, since i had only 4 films on my list. but then the film took a serious nose dive.

don't worry if the idea is preposterous. a killer toying this much with police and a particular agent terry mccaleb (clint eastwood).

but the suspense and attention to detail were riveting for most of the movie. terry mccaleb was tremendously able to carry out his work under the anxiety of it all and with his new heart transplant. it was rather remarkable, and 'eastwood' in character development.

but then the movie took a nose dive and turned into dirty harry 2. not at first when mccaleb was not going to let a bad guy have his way, but as the movie developed from there.

i had the impression that eastwood as director, just couldn't complete a rather brilliant type of beginning and plot. once mccaleb found the killer, eastwood did not keep it on it's excellent path. it seems like he just didn't have the skill at this point to make a classic type of movie. and it turned into dirty harry 2.

i'd give it 2 and a 1/2 stars out of 4. the movie had me tense and interested. a little similar to insomnia but a better film.
