Tonight's cable find: Jean Renoir's "La Bete Humaine"

Emile Zola's story is almost silly, offering not too much to act upon. With even Jean Gabin looking weak, this is not Renoir's strongest work, by far.

But it is still enjoyable... and how could the film from the hands of the master be anything but?
