In the last couple years, Almodovar has matured, if not transformed. I don't know what happened in his life to change his normally breezy, cheeky style, but TTH displays a wiser, more lyrical director than Almodovar used to be.Talk To Her was one of the best films I've seen in the last several years, and it's by far Almodovar's best work.
WIll he reach the heights of Renoir, Welles, Eisenstein, Tarkovsky, Bunuel, Ford, Kurosawa, Lean, Powell/Pressburger, Chaplin, Keaton, Griffiths, Murnau, Dreyer, Huston etc etc etc (insert here your personal pantheon)????
It's way too soon to tell. But Almodovar is in the big leagues IMO after his last two (All ABout My Mother, Talk To Her). Whether he can sustain this 2 flick run will be interesting to see.
