Film made mid-80s. Probably direct to video as I never saw it in theaters.
A motley group of about 7-8 settlers are travelling the west circa 1870. They are travelling through the woods of Pennsylvania led by a Army officer. They come across an Indian who warns them not to go through a section of woods as the area is inhabited by evil spritis. The people go anyway and are soon affected by the spirits. Some die, some make it out. One young gal becomes possessed and tries to seduce the Army dude.
No actors I recognized. The VHS sleeve had a creature somewhat resembling a tree.
I think the Blair Witch folks partly used the theme from this movie.
Anyone recall this film??
