Movies from comedy to drama to your favorite Hollyweird Star.

1. The new DVD box of "The Lion King" will include a surround sound track especially mixed for the home theater environment.
2. The upcoming box of the four "Alien" movies will include all four remastered, another four longer versions, and a huge amount of the usual "making of", trailers, interviews, etc., for a total of 62 hours (!) of material. The gatefold "box" when fully opened stretches nearly five feet in length and includes nine discs.
3. Those of you who thought that the initial DVD transfer of "Casablanca" was excellent (as I did) will be totally blown away by the new two disc set where the film transfer is EVEN BETTER and the sound is also improved. This is up there on the Citizen Kane level in terms of the entire package.
It is rewarding to see what Criterion started oh so long ago with their laserdisc issues come to fruition on DVD. Even the studio budgets for resoration and preservation have been vastly increased because of the home theater DVD market.
