Good Sequels?

Like most of you I abhor the idea of sequels and have ever since I saw my first one, "Son of Kong". Most sequels are rotten but very occasionally one comes along that is even better than its original, e.g., "Godfather II" or "Toy Story II" or the third Indiana Jones movie. Other achieve merit while not quite living up to the standard of the original, e.g., "The Two Jakes" ("Chinatown") or "Aliens".
Some sequels are a part of the original conception ("Godfather II", "Ivan the Terible II", "Manon of the Spring") while others are devised later, mostly to make a buck. I don't know if you could consider the Bond franchise a series of sequels but if one did, then arguably the third one, "Goldfinger" is the best.
Anyone have any ideas of any other "good" sequels"?
