Well, if you want a real laugh, start this movie in English. It sounds like a bad American 40's gangster movie. I had to bail and get back to the subtitles . .
Rififi was a rigid, formulaic film and father of the "graphic heist". But, what really got my attention was the state of undress and behavior and treatment of the women. This is what I was never allowed to see as a child in the 50's! (Trashy French films and those postcards.) This was really hot stuff! Bra here, nipple there. If you viewed the trailer it was actually marketed here for SEX and the heist alone.
Unusually long for its era, Rififi is worth seeing because it set the mould for the modern crime/heist film.
