The follow-up to Season 2 is stronger, closer to Season 1 in respect to strong story building and motivations, with excellent character development with Giovani Ribisi's definitive confidence man character in top form. The only notable difference is that there seems to be a bit less acted-on graphic violence than I recall from last season, which is fine because this story requires more threatened violence.

In this series, where there are minor inconsistencies, it's due to unresolved plot points that are hinted at, but never fully fleshed out. For instance (this isn't a spoiler since it doesn't serve to advance the plot in any way), Pete/Marius's suspicious parole officer places more demands for his parolee to prove employment at their next scheduled meeting, then we never see them meet again nor anything being done to fix this perceived problem. So, this is basically just a distraction. Given the unraveling family dynamic crucial to the central plot, this wasted scene seems like a road bump with little or no purpose.

This side track was pretty much the exception. Most other aspects of the plot and character development are well constructed plot points important to the story arc; story padding being kept to a minimum. In short, I think the 3rd season of Sneaky Pete is worth the time. The series has a fair number of surprises that rely on logical behavior more than coincidence, great characters and good pacing. Recommended! Four cat-paws.
