Can take a simple story about mundane-looking people, living in mundane circumstances, and turn it into a meaningful actor's movie. Leslie Manville and Ciraran Hinds take a spur-of-the-moment vacation to Amsterdam, where long-harbored guilt and secrets come forth that change the dynamic of their relationship for the remainder of their lives.
The cinematography brings life to simple interiors and street scenes in a way that oddly grabs one's attention. I was struck by how this is a "big screen" movie, as so much would be lost on the small screen. The small screen doesn't demand your focus or attention like a darkened theater.
Nevertheless, most people will "cabelize" this one. Best viewed with tea and biscuits while wearing your favorite slippers.
