Sorry, Steve, my shop didn't have the Ninth Gate, so my wife brought home boxfull of "repulsion". One of the movies that gave Roman Polanski the reputation for crooked mind (the 13-year old girl came much later...). One can easily see why. I gues the distinction between him and Bergman is that Ingmar always had something else to say besides just delving into the sick mind. One can probably call the Repulsion masterful but tedious and predictable. Once the slope was established, there was no maneuvering, just errr, mindless slide down... Catherine was great. Sometimes one gets worried for the mind of acress playing such role. It is not secret that too often the lovers in the movie became lovers in life. Could the same be said about being mad?Have you seen it?
