I confess to having read every single one of JRR Tolkin's books, including that very dense "Saragaganomumm...what was it? Surandon.....", heck, I can't even pronounce it let along understand it.

And Bakshi's attempt promised so much, because I couldn't imagaine any other way to tell these stories but by "comic book".

It's a good choice for this header Formerly Steve. There's just no way anyone--even Lucas, can do justice to what's in my head.

Yes, I will go to the theater to see this one, no matter how bad it is. I spent too many days/weeks of my life immersed in this fantasy not to.

Steve, did you read the other fantasy series of that period...I can't remember the details, but a guy who was dying of cancer or leporsy or something--I think there was a trilogy of that too. Started with a "C" I think...Conrad or something...there were giants and boats made from magic wood...this all runs together in my head.

And Beowolf is out again in a new translation...heard it on NPR. This time it's quite accessable. Oh that brings back those memeories of Saturday afternoons at the movie house watching the Voyages of Sinbad...great stuff! How can these epic adaptations of the Arabian tales and Homer and Virgil compare with Mutant Ninga Turtles?
