The "Joke of Destiny" starts slowly, but gains momentum.
Perhaps the MOST haunting movie music ever - and that is one tall statement.
If you like interesting character development, this one will not disappoint you. Polytical satire is there, but seems to play rather secondary role. Add to this the husky voice of 17-years old Valeria Golino, full of hormones, and you got something to watch.
And how do you get the Italian interior? Why, you start with the finest French one, and you keep adding bad taste until it makes full circle and start looking good again.
Movie is full of beautiful Italian language - the most musical of all languages. At times I stoped paying attention to the subtitles, I just listened, like you listen to Don Carlos. You will get a perfect chance to learn some bad Italian words - they will be repeated clearly and often, all with proper translation, so you can remember them well.
The movie has very strong early-80's flavor, and perhaps it should.
