Matador... all that fascination, ecstatic crowd and "women on the verge of nervous breakdown". It is only natural.
Movie starts and engulfs you immediately. You are thrown into this whirlpool and you can barely keep up with all that imagery - simply captivating. Young Banderos - how can one describe that face? It is deep, promising and attractive. All those qualities that eventually get lost in his relentless pursuit of money and sleeping his way to the top of that pinnacle of his dream - Hollywood. Such waste...
His iron mother - what a bitch. Takes you time to realize that she is played by the same meek-faced actreess who played the Abbess in the Dark Hidouts - Julieta Serrano - and man, what a performance!
And I should not even mention his public defender - every man's Playboy dream, sophisticated and free and hungry...
Sex, sex, and then some more sex... and there is never enough and all those gorgeous beauties can't keep their hands off young Antonio and his teacher and every other man on the set... what a life... what a country...
It is getting denser and denser and the sword index keeps going up until it all collapses. You suddently realize that you have been taken, you have been had, you have been bambozzled... The shell is empty and the apple rotten. The young director obviously still has plenty to learn and apparently is now completely out of breath half way through the distance. It is all downhill from here.
Don't even ask what the ending is like - it is garbage. Ah, yes, more sex, for sure, and that orgasm of their lives that comes finally, and their happy deaths... not too soon...
Let me put it straight: this is a must see for any serious movie lover. Did I say "lover"? How appropriate. I guess this movie is getting me...
