I finally got to see it and even *I* am disappointed. For all my dislike of Hollywood mass-shit I still expected just a tiny bit better. This one is so much lacking in any artistic virtues and imagination, it is simply laughable. No, I am not surprised at all the hoopla around it - by now I am used to it. But gentle-guys, we are talking about the director and the rest of the crew still struggling with simple additionas and multiplications when decades ago the rest of the world had discovered the quantum mechanics. It is THAT far behind ANY curve... it is pathetic... it is your sister's child playing piano with one finger at the family gathering...Is it a waste of acting talent? No, regrettably no. She is just what she always is - a completely inept in ANY role, this one no exception. And Kevin - well, I am not sure any longer that his work in The Usual Suspects was not simply a fluke. If he keeps working in trash like that with such meager results - it will be time to write him off too.
I am glad I didn't go out and pay to see it. Looks like being one year behind the Hollywood is a good thing. Perhaps I should now stretch it to few more years, perhaps decades, to the period where there was *somethng* to see from that hill. Now it seems that nothing but just the proverbial shit is flowing towards us. Titanic.... SPR.... now that one...
With so much truly good cinematography around, it is so regratable that trash like that gets watched. Promoted. Paid for.
We should lament the fact that our kids will grow up thinking that this idiocy is what movies are all about and that there is not much out there besides the endless regurgitating of cheap teeneager trash.
This one certainly belongs in that category - all its 5-cents cliche's and stupid music, trying, unsuccessfully, to be sure, to catch that haunting Body Heat atmosphere.
I am sorry I saw it, I am sorry Kevin had stooped this low. I am sorry the director has no clue. I am sorry I stayed up late.
