In Bill Warren's monumental sci-fi work, "Keep Watching The Skies!",
he comments on the acting prowess of various children who played in
the 1958 sci-fi film, "The Space Children". Bill cites the child
leader - Michael Ray, Johnny Crawford(later as Mark McCain in the
TV Series, "The Rifleman") and Sandy Descher as the best of the group of child
actors in the film.
IMO, Sandy gave the best performance in the 1954 sci-fi movie,
"Them!" as the little Ellison girl suffering from ant-encounter
induced shock. She was only six years old at the time; her first
appearance was uncredited as a tot in the 1952 film, "My Pal Gus".
Sandy appeared in only one film after "The Space Children", which
was the 1958 film, "A Gift For Heidi". After that she played in
two TV series, "The New Loretta Young Show"-1962 and "The New Phil
Silvers Show"-1963. Hats off to Sandy! - AH
