It is funny - people bend out of shape over the "poor quality" of the "normal" TV standard, yet almost no one has seen what that fifty-years old standard can do. If they could see what the good studio monitor can deliver, they would not be so eager to get any DVD, HD, or whatever.It is simply amazing and disgusting that decades after it was developed we still usually get perhaps only 30% of what it can do - cable, dvd and everything. Real shame. Most people don't know that their TV's only get 30% of color information that the signal carries (.5MHz out of 1.5 MHz available).
What makes them hope that the cable companies, etc, will not fuck up the new standard?
