I thought this film was dominated by its performances, by far. The story line was intrigueing and compelling but I was most drawn in by the performances. All of them! Not to take away from Oldmans role, which I found incrediable, but I also couldn't shake a bit of a self-serving element in his role. Sort of the Barbra Streisand/Nuts; Jodie Foster/Nell type feeling...I guess when you put up some bucks (he exec-produced it) you can take a few more risks (?)
I happily added The Contender to my collection...
As an aside, just before I put The Contender in, I watch one of my fav's: The Big Labowski...talk about Jeff Bridges/Sam Elliott extremes!!!!
