Re: Victor...why...?

Rich, it happens on two planes. On the artistic one I consider him an artisan, not artist. Plus he speculates on important subjects.

When I watched his SPR I kept wondering just what Bergman, De Sica, Bunuel, Allen and other have been doing all those years, if all their effort was now continued by..... THIS?..... Watching that movie was like listening to me play piano.

On the societal plane I think he contributes to moral corruption of this nation. In his position he is capable of doing anything he would like. He doesn't need to worry about money. So at this time he could be doing what is right - producing films that would bring out the best in people, by losing money perhaps.

But he keeps pushing forward his business. I am all for business, except in art. There, at certain point I think the artist should become concerned with his obligations towards the society, as the moral decay we are experiencign today is trully frightening.

What is right? This is absolutely personal decision, but to me Woody is right, and Stephen is not.
