Movies from comedy to drama to your favorite Hollyweird Star.

I'll save you the trouble....36

I caught the tail end of the 70s, so if you're thinking I couldn't relate to the movie because I didn't experience the decade, well...you're right in the sense that I didn't really experience the decade, especially its music. That probably explains why I couldn't relate to the soundtrack except for the Zeppelin, Skynyrd and Allman Brothers tunes. My reasons for not enjoying the movie had nothing to do with the time period in which it took place. In comparison, Schindler's List stands as one of my all-time favorite movies, and when did it take place?. (Is that Veektoor I hear screaming?)

I just felt the movie lacked any real substance in all aspects - acting, character development, plot, etc. For example, one minute, William's Mother is an overbearing witch...the next minute, an understanding angel. What gives? Also, I couldn't hold back my laughter at Wiliam's "amazing" acting ability when he finally stands up for Penny and proclaims his love for her. Perhaps he could contact Anna Pacquin for a few lessons.

If the movie would've avoided these pitfalls, it probably would stand as one of the better movies I've seen in 2001. Personally, I would've also added some Dylan, more Skynyrd, CSNY and maybe even some Heart to the soundtrack. ;-)

My $.02 anyway.

Regards,
Aurelio S.
