Re: Best actressses working in film ?

I couldn't agree more. So many "Stars" with lots of glitter but no heat.

Damon isn't the worst but he is an unsubtle actor. There are some good actors in the new generation but most of them are products of the mill, just like so many pop singers. They're pretty but there's no substance.

I really dislike Jim Carrey. I know I'm in the minority but I find his manic delivery tiresome and his attempts at drama, as in THE MAJESTIC, are painful to watch. He has plenty of talent but he needs discipline!

No one is as bad as Pamela Anderson - she sets a new low in acting ability and has negative charisma - but there are many that are close on her heels.

Of course, actors are sometimes only as good as the roles they play and that is a big problem. Scripts go for the big boom but are too often just another rehash of the same old hoary cliches. PEARL HARBOR and, IMHO, MOULIN ROUGE are good examples of baaaaaaaaaaad scripts. Herman J. Mankewitz and Dalton Trumbo and Rod Serling seem to have been forgotten and the hacks have taken over! Of course, the mentioned writers are deceased and a good intelligent script probably is a hard sell. Too bad. We need another Reginald Rose or Paddy Chayeski. Some of the movies I've seen lately, especially what passes for comedy, belong to the Ed Wood school of scriptwriting.

And if I never have to see Ben Stiller or Adam Sandler again I will be very happy. Or Shannon Dougherty, Chris Tucker, Demi Moore, Tom Cruise.............take your pick; it's a very long list.
