"What Happened Was..." The most Un-American American Film?

I watched it late last night on Sundance channel.

What a delight.

I suspect you will never see it at the theater near you, nor on one of your normal movie channels.

For anyone who loves good movies this is a pleasure. Even more so since it is an American film.

It is obvious it was done on a shoe string budget... and somehow that doesn't distract from the strong emotional impact the movie produces.

Two people meet for the first time outside of work... she considers it a date, he... not sure. Both are walking wounded from previous experiences, akward, lonely and unsure of what to say and to do.

Nothing happens besides the words... yet it keeps you rivered to your seat in anticipation. It does have that power that only truly good films posess.

Very well written and acted by Tom Noonan, and masterfully supported by Karen Sillas, this is a gem of a movie.

But of course, most definittely, this is not a film for everyone. Insightful, witty, full of good observations and subtle psychology and intricate interplay, this is a seer delight to watch if it happens to resonate in you.

I sincerely wish Patrick could get hold on this one - as this is the side of American movie industry the world doesn't see. I doubt it gets more independent that this beauty.

If there is any chance you can get it - please do so.

Big roar of applauds.
