Le Pacte du silence - another French kaka?

How about yet another Depardieu film? Now he has lost a lot of weight and looks pretty trim for his 55. Just as well, as chasing a young and beautiful Élodie Bouchez (actually two of them... he-he...) will take a lot of strength and will become his downfall.

Depardieu has a Rolex. A Submariner. He loves it, and wears it in many of his films. During his interviews. Wouldn't be a big deal, if a $4000 watch wasn't a bit out of place on a priest's wrist.

At least he left if home when doing Cyrano... and for that we all should be endebted to the old... oops... sorry, middle-aged... man Gerard.

Anyway... going back to the Pact of Silence... it is mostly pointless. OK, the girl is attractive, and Gerard is doing his usual fine acting, but the rest falls apart rather quickly, leaving behind not much to talk about.

So if you managed to miss it forever, do not feel any great sense of a loss - for you will survive that disappointment for sure.

If you have four bucks, and The Pact is the only movie left unwatched on the shelf - go for it, you could spend 90 minutes in a far worse company (OK, OK, no mentioning of lOTR here...), but do not make it a mandatory major attraction on your road towards learning fine movies... nothing more than a quick pee stop will do here.

But you have to give it to the French - even the kaka they make is somewhat watcheable.

So this one fails Dmitry's criteria - the one about anything French scoring five stars before the box even gets open.

Sorry, Dim, two and a half will do fine for this one.
