The $30 figure was inclusive of parking, gas and snacks... the matinee's here at Ritz (the only good theater in Phily) is $6.50 I believe.
But the multiplexes? I forgot when was the last time I paid to see a Hollywood film... this is a philosophical concept - I vote with my bucks, and I don't want them go to George Cloonies of the world.
But as I said, there is severe shortage of available time on my part, more than money, to see all the good ones. And if one of the recent major releases IS good, I WILL catch it eventually, but the point is - I will not be simply sitting waiting for it, I will be watching something nice in the meantime.
Last time I went to the store, my head spun... I can watch two rented ones on a weekend day - no travel, and just $7.50 total.
Are my standards lower? Even if they are, I am not so concerned with that. I am just plowing my own swatch. You are welcome to do yours.
