George Clooney as Napoleon

Reading the article made me really sorry he didn't make the Napoleon... heck, I probably have nearly as many books on him as Kubrick did... not indexed, unfortunately. Every time I go to Russia I bring some - they are far more common and better there than here. I wish Kubrick did it instead of that Eyes Wide Shut fiasco.

What is the problem with Napoleon? Great directors tease us but fail to deliver - Gance didn't... Kubrick didn't... if it keeps going like this we will end up with a Napoleon made by Steve Soderbergh with George Clooney in the title role.

Did you see the Clooney's Solaris? It is getting to the point where I just might rent it. I know you were not exactly thrilled about the Tarkovsky work, and I urge you to try it again - as I mentioned, I can watch it as many times as I can get.

Napoleon... the more I think about it the more I long for a truly deep and detailed work - a'la Gance's original idea.

Is there a market for such film? Well, I would certainly buy more than one ticket!
