Re: "As Good as it Gets"

The movie is watchable. Jack is probably playing himself quite well. The unlikeness of a relationship between Healen and Jack in real life is atonishing.

As for the discussion about american values, I most say that I enjoy reading what everybody has to say here. I got to see a lot of movies that otherwise I would never try just by the discussions here.

There is this anti-intelectualism in the US. Anything that sounds elaborated not apparent at a first sight is consider snobbish. I don't like that attitude. There is also the other american style. This one is open to new foods, new music, celebrates the use of the intellect to transform our life relationship with art, film, music, etc. A lot of people forgets that film is for the most part art. The primary goal of the film industry is to make money not art. Look what this model has done to the american music scene. Instead of looking for new artist and styles, corporate america is looking for the next Britney Spears. That is the reason people are not buying CD's.

So if the goal of this forum is to discuss the hollywood blockbusters we are waisting our time. That is ussually done in the pages of USA Today. Why duplicating efforts?
