Saw this a couple of weekends ago and I can't stop thinking about it. Remember the Stanford prison experiment they did in 1971? The ones they had to abort because the students playing guards and prisoners went completely out of control?
This movie takes that basic plot premise and spins it into a full length thriller set in modern Germany.
I thought it was one of the best movies I've seen in the last year or so. It's interesting to see how prisoners react when they are stripped of their identities and how the guards react when they detrmine that their objective is to preserve their authority at all costs. My fiancee deals with incarcerated youth on a regular basis and she thought it was pretty accurate and way too close to home.
Definitely worth a rental.
