Thats where i had been directed to after asking about why some movies still letter boxed on 16.9 screens. I read up on Todd AO and lo and behold, a week later ATWI80D was released.
Our local PBS station runs classic movies on Saturday night in high def. Last fall they ran the widescreen version of Raintree County. Turgid melodrama with Liz chewing the scenery, but glorious to look at and hear.
I'll print out that FYI on dvd aspect ratios and keep it handy when i go to purchase from now on.
