Summer's here....bummer... but, the best corn is grown in nutrient rich soil.
Hey, the bummer part is I swapped buying the Blockbuster "Movie Pass" for 1" chlorine tablets. After renting an average of 30 flix a month since October, I'm taking the warmer months off for outdoors type stuff.
The pass(2 flix out at any given time-$25) gave an opportunity to catch a lot of films I normally wouldn't have rented, and to view some of my favorite actor's filmographies.
Johnny Depp's newest, Secret Window was the lastest. After "Pirate's"(a sober Keith Richards?)caught my attention, I was running down his list and really enjoyed "From Hell", "The Ninth Gate", "Blow" and "Once upon a Time in Mexico"(gotta' try that pork recipe). I was unable to locate "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", but is on my fall "to watch" list.
It doesn't seem to matter what role he plays(his type can be choosy), but whatever he does, he does very well.
It didn't surprise me that "Secret Window" was a great movie, and has all the elements of a good drama/thriller. Unpredictable and twisted scenes abound, even when you suspect somethings up. I was surprised not to read or even find another thread relating to it, in a forum search.
I favor the more believable, less Hollywood explosions type of films. I think it takes more talent on a directors part, to keep your attention by other means, excluding good casting, than via hiring pyrotechnics specialists and stuntpersons.
Anyone else seen it?
