I thought Diana Ross got the junkie sleaze down pat with incredible (and sympathetic) renditions of the songs as well, Richard Pryor is great as Piano Man
Critics and audiences didn't know what to think of this at the time it was released and had it been more of a success we would have seen more films with Diana Ross in them, not at all a bad thing
Her later film with Michael Jackson "The Whiz" was truly awful and suffered the same fate as LSTB
