A really terrible script. About a businessman who gets kidnapped, and his wife's effort to get him back. Ala "Proof of Life". But with a terrible actor as the FBI agent. Redford is good, and so is Mirren. But the "pet the puppy" scenes where they try to manipulate you to care about the family, are absurd. Imagine "Daddy was kidnapped this morning for ransom", and dinner is happy, smiling people.
It gets worse. Redford jumps the bad guy holding him hostage, knocks the gun away and strangles the man unconscious.
What do you think Redford does next?
Walks over to a tree and ponders what just happened!
Of course. Completely forgetting the man MIGHT WAKE THE F**K UP!!! AND REACH OVER FOR THE GUN!!!
You wouldn't take a rock to his skull? Hint, our ancestors on the Savanna 3.5 million years ago, would have taken a bone or a rock and made sure he was dead. Not Sundance!
Guess what happens?
Hint, if Redford just walks away, there is no movie left.
Think, "Terminator " or "Carrie".
Ridiculous. Especially bad acting by the daughter, who was lovely to look at, but showed no particular interest in an acting career. There was one scene where the 20-something daughter is supposed to be regressing due to the kidnapping of her father (about 12 hours earlier), and she has turned into a Downs-syndrome four year old, but with a big beautiful body.
What a piece of crap.
