EdM,I enjoyed very much your linked reviews. When the reviews are so unaminous we can expect a later reactionary element.
Reading between the lines I can see that- not yet- not now, but in a "few" years, "Alexander" will compared favourably to "Citizen Kane".

The sublimated Oedipal structure reminds one of "Under Milkwood" by Dylan Thomas
Real actors!
The costumes!
Not long enough!
Reveals Alexander's private life to be similar to Nixon's- except for the sex!
