"Ben Hur" (1926 silent)

This one has it all: multiple hue tiniting, sequences in two strip Technicolor, male and female nudity, and of course the famous chariot race, where you can clearly see that many horses were killed or injured during the Saturday afternoon filming. Pretty boy Ramon Navarro plays the lead, and Francis X. Bushman is his former friend now bitter enemy. Bushman is evil almost from the gitgo in this one, unlike Stephen Boyd in the 1959 version. The Carl Davis musical score is outstanding (check out his equally wonderful score for the laserdisc of "Greed").

Notwithstanding my horse comment above, the chariot race sequence is very well done. And oh, those pre code topless women in the victory celebration parade, in color yet!
