Jeux d'enfants (Love Me if You Dare)

This is the first, and so far the only, film by French director Yann Samuell. It is hard to tell what it is about, as the story line, while present, doesn't mean much... it is like electric wires... they are there, but who knows what will flow down them next second?

It is about a boy and a girl... no, wait, it is about young woman and her eternal lover... no, wait, it is... it is... well, nevermind the story - let's just agree on that.

There have been plenty of films about human relationships lately, and this one is yet another such film. In it you will need to look past the situations and simply feel the flow of the emotions.

The power of good films about people is that they raise far above the stories and begin to talk to our innermost feelings. In fact they simply call on them and then WE start talking.

Love Me if You Dare is by far not the strongest such film. It is clear the director needs to grow, even though there are some very good moments in the film. But it will likely make you reminisce and dream, and that is more than many films manage to accomplish today.

An unever and meandering, yet beautiful film that is oh-so-very-French and oh-so-very-human.
