"Charlotte Gray"

Cate Blanchette plays an English woman in WW II London who falls in love with a British flyer after a one night stand. When he is shot down over Vichy France she enlists to be trained to join the Resistance operating out of a small village (she speaks perfect French). After being parachuted into Vichy she does indeed hook up with the Resistance and gradually falls in love with its cell leader (Billy Crudup) while living with his father. The father is hiding two young Jewish brothers and Cate assists in their care. There is a suprise ending. Excellent performances but a weak script. At one point the cell leader shouts out aagainst the Germans as they are entering the village, not a credible move for a Resistance fighter.
The film was shot in a French village that actually was occupied during the war, even though it was located in collaborationist Vichy.
