"The Lone Ranger"

Thisa one is a guilty pleasure for me. The TV cast and production company which produced the series from 1949 through 1956 also shot two feature length motion pictures, this one and a not so good "Lone Ranger and the City of Gold". This one is well written and well paced for its genre and tells the story of a corrupt rancher aided by a corrupt sheriff who is trying to provoke an indian tribe into war so the rancher can have them moved to another reservation and he can take over their land, which contains a silver vein. The L/R and Tonto get involved throughout. A particularly effective scene is when townspeople are trying to hang Tonto and the L/R rescues him by shooting the rope. On widescreen DVD with extras. Clayton Moore was made for trhis part (although curiously he missed a season or two of the series when the L/R was played by actor John Hart).
