After seeing him in Batman -- he's tall, he has almost the right accent (Irish), and he can do the tuxedo and suave thing (see Schindler's List). And he is certainly an opposing figure who can do the larger than the life shtick.It is stupid to have young actors in this role because with all the things james bond can do -- you'd have to be 40 to be able to have learned it all.
