Tinear: About that Asian Film list...

Could this be the post you mean? (from Peterloplop):

It's a good list, I think, and here are a few more I'd add to the mix:

WhaSango (Volcano High): make sure you get the Korean, extended, version (although the international festival version is fine too). The N.American version is cut with a hip hop track added. Light, fun m ovie about kids in schools with extreme martial arts powers and similarly endowed teachers sent in to suppress them. Nice wirework. This is what X Men could have looked like if it had had a director who understood action.

Failan: Korean film with HK actress Cecilia Cheung and lead actor from Shiri and Old Boy. Really quite good, if a bit of a downer.

My Wife is a Gangster: Bought by H'wood for remake. Title says it all.

Christmas in August: Really enjoyable film about a photographer on his last legs, and the meter maid who falls for him.

Untold Scandal: Korean version of Les Liaisons Dangereuses, starring Bae Yong-Joon, hearthrob superstar from Winter Sonata (they added a Korean TV drama section in Narita as a result of the popularity of that series in Japan!)

Tale of Two Sisters: Horror, but not really.

Virgin Stripped Bare by Her bachelors: Small art film about a girl and the guys who want to bed her.

Kairo: Japanese horror about ghosts and an internet site.

All About Lily Chou Chou: From director Shunji Iwai, whose Swallowtail Butterfly defined the clear rift between generational viewing tastes.

When the Last Sword is Drawn: The Last Samurai, without Tom Cruise.

Dora Heita: Kon Ichikawa film based on a Kurosawa script.

Makioka Sisters: Kon Ichikawa adaptation of classic japanese novel, and best use of Handel's Ombra mai fu I have ever seen.

City of Sadness: From Hou Hsiao Hsien, director of Millennium Mambo.

YiYi: Edward Yang film about a Taiwanese family's trials and tribulations. Most memorable shot is when a little boy glimpses the panties of the girl he has a crush on.

Lost and Found: A girl looking for hope runs into a guy who owns a service that specializes in finding things.

The Mission: Johnny To's most disciplined film (IMO), about a hastily assembled team of bodyguards whose mission it is to protect the head of a prominent gang leader. Anti-John Woo fight scenes..no slow mo, no doves. If you like that, you may like Longest Night (Nite). After that, you may wish to try Heroes Never Die, just for the bravado scene in a bar involving two hitmen, their girlfriends, a couple of bottles of wine, a few wineglasses and....a coin.

Running Out of TIme: Andy Lau as a dying super crook out for vengeance and Lau Ching Wan as the cop out to stop him. From Johnny To's fecund period, when Milkyway Films made its mark in the HK scene.

Scent of Green Papaya: Very nice film from Vietnamese expat with French crew. Also try Cyclo if you like Tony Leung Chiu Wai (In The Mood For Love, Happy Together, ChungKing Express, Infernal Affairs)

Lots more out there.
