Twelve people on a bus in Rio de Janeiro are taken hostage by an armed man who acts deranged and, over a several hour period, brutalizes several female passengers, going so far as having one kneel and placing a gun barrel into her mouth, screaming he will execute her.
The documentary not only shows the life of the criminal but also that of the conditions that led him to this point.
In contrast to the gritty scenes of urban poverty, the natural splendor of the City of God repeatedly is shown in long tracking aerial scenes.
One day later, I am still reeling from the ending.
You won't see a better film this year (or any).
Major warning: the Netflix description absolutely is WRONG in what occurs. I don't know what film these guys watched!
