The 1995 film with Robert Downey Jr. and Sam Neill walks a tight line, providing a great deal of interest and not enough sentimentality to become truly burdensome.
In fact this film is what good entertainment should be about - lighthearted in some moments, sad in others, with beautiful cinematography and gorgous settings and costumes... plus a little bit of timeless philosophy.
Easy to recommend.
