Susan Sarandon - no middle ground

Susan is a difficult case for me. I completely reject and disagree with all her off-screen activity... to the point of reaching for the Off button any time she speaks - her thought is primitive and ideas missplaced... I think.

But then there is the on-screen Susan, and that one is so absolutely captivating, so talented and masterful that I quickly forgive her the other transgressions, and get completely absorbed in her acting - it is as quick and decisive as the mousetrap snap - CLACK! and I am caught...

Light Sleeper was on last night. Normally you would rate that as an average to mediocre film with not much to offer in story, script and directing. Who needs another movie about good-hearted, sensitive drug dealer?

Willem Dafoe does good job with his role, to be fair to him (I generally like the man), but any time Susan enters the frame... it is all over... you see no one else, she dominates is like Mount Fuji, and you simply can't take your eyes off her face, her figure, and the voice enters your mind not through your ears, but your whole body... she has that incredible control only very few actors have ever possessed.

And we are not talking raw sex appeal here, but something far more fundamental. However, the last scene has so much sexuality in it, all expressed through workds, looks, gestures... that you know you are dealing with a real woman.
